We got up a bit earlier today at 7, had a coffee, a shower and wore my new new pants with my new green shirt! It’s great to have new clothes when you are on vacation to feel all brand new! We drove from the condo in Kissimmee to Epcot and parked at Amaze 36 again! What fun to be in the same parking lot for a 2nd time! It is another nice sunny day and as we waited in the lineup to get in, we watched two balloons float away as I guess a few kids let go of their balloons! Everyone was looking up at them as they floated away and it was a fun WDW moment as it was like watching our childhood dreams float up into the sky!
First thing we did was Nemo and Friends riding the jellyfish boat. It was so fun and after we went to the undersea aquarium and saw saw dolphins and manatees and turtles and were there for Ray feeding time. Then went to Turtle talk with crush and saw him farting bubbles! It is fun to watch Crush interact with the kids and they do such a great job of the show it was really fun.
After the aquarium we went to The Land which is a boat ride through greenhouse and hydroponic greenhouses cared for by Disney and passed by an incredible modern greenhouse full of melons and cool fruits and plants in greenhouses then through the fish farm where different species are kept in tanks that are naturally sustainable. WDW is not just rides and fun but also about education and new technologies!
After that we went to captain EO and the Michael Jackson 3d movie from 1986 by Francis Coppola and George Lucas. The experience was very Star Wars and kind of dated with the movie full of 80’s hairstyles and dancing like the MJ Tthriller video and the experience came of as a bit dated but it was neat to see it anyway and I can imagine that when this appeared in 1986 that it was pretty cutting edge . The chairs and effects during the movie were a bit shabby but it was historically interesting!
After that we did the Imagination ride which featured the guy from Monty Python and it was pretty fun!
EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and it really is cool especially the section that tours the lake where you can walk and actually experience a trip around the world! We toured the world clockwise starting in Mexico where we did the Grande Fiesta Tour then walked to the China exhibit and then had a nice stroll around the world!
The German exhibit has a very cool miniature village with trains and small houses and lizards were resting in the sun keeping warm on the rooftops looking like gigantic lizards from a Godzilla movie! Every country was so well built you felt like you were there like in France there was an Eiffel Tower in the distance so you felt like you were really there. When we got to The UK there was a live musical group of buskers playing and they were very good, it sounded and felt like we were in a small Scottish town and then when we arrived in Canada the Imagineers at WDW really made us feel like we were in the wilderness of Canada. There was also a re-creation of the Buchart Gardens that really felt like the Victoria gardens!
We ended our walk at Club Cool where they have a drink tasting station where you can sample different soda beverages from around the world. My favorite was a Peruvian liquid bubblegum flavored soda (Inca Cola). DD found a nice tasty drink (VegitaBeta) that was low acid that she was able to drink and we both agreed we want to go back to the Club Cool for more when we come back to Epcot! The floor is so sticky though it was funny because as we walked it sounded like Squidward walking! Splotch splotch splotch splotch! LOL
When we stopped for lunch under the Electric Umbrella we were able to take a breath and enjoy the moment! The spectrum of emotions really is wide: we saw a group of Brazilian girls on a WDW group excursion singing and shouting and dancing together loudly and then also saw a group of disabled kids in wheelchairs who had wide eyes and open mouths staring into the sky and it really touched me to see how this magical place can have such a mix of people together and each one of them is enjoying it in their own way. It made my heart ache to see the poor kids in their wheelchairs with their physical disabilities who seemed to have a glow of excitement right next to the healthy young teenagers who seemed rather bored with the whole Disney experience. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy such a place!
One of the funny parts of the day while we had our walk was going to the Norwegian Pavilion and OMG I swear I saw this group of Norwegian ladies and they must have been related to me in some way because the resemblance was uncanny!
After the day we were both shagged out and today was The Super Bowl football game and we could really care less so I was happy to see that when we got home we could watch The Puppy Bowl on TV! Woof Woof!
