With only two days in Kelowna on a 7 day British-Columbia adventure I was looking for a short hike or daytime adventure that was close to Kelowna and my hotel. I saw a pamphlet for the Kelowna Kangaroo Creek Farm and thought I’d give it a try…I was so glad I did the place was fantastic! It’s just outside of Kelowna and is a privately operated kangaroo farm and they have more than just kangaroos, they have goats and emus and other strange creatures and I won’t say too much because you have to go there and see for yourself!

I got to hold a little baby joey and she was such a little softie, the farm employees careful pass around little plush pouches with the baby kangaroos inside and they snuggle up and licked anyone who held them! They were so cute and cuddly, the kids loved it! There were mini goats roaming around munching on shoots and leaves and the large open field full of kangaroos lounging in the shade was lovely!

We saw an albino kangaroo which is very rare the guide said there is only 1 in 10,000 kangaroos who are albino so it was nice to be able to pat one and they have such lovely little eyebrows!! They do look a bit like big white rats but there’s nothing wrong with that!

Watching them all hop about in the open grass and not being afraid of people was a great experience.

We even saw a mama kangaroo with a little albino joey in her pouch! They seem like very gently creatures and it was something I won’t forget. I only had an hour to visit the kangaroos but will go back again next time and try and bring a friend, its a great place for families and good times! The entrance is by donation and the farm recieves no government funding, it’s not a kangaroo rescue just a place created by true animal lovers! You should give at least $5 per person and by the time you’ve held a joey and patted a true to life “Skippy” you’ll want to give even more on your way out! Great place for photos!

There are portable toilets on the site and a place to have picnics but it is a farm and not a provincial park so expect some dust and mud and smells and try and keep it clean and don’t litter. I hope they can keep operating as it was a super experience!
