Halamaumau Volcano Seismograph55 viewsIn Hawaii Volcanoes National Park at the Jagger Museum there is, among the other incredible histroical and geological displays on the workings of the island's tectonic family, an entire bank of seismic meters...an incredible grouping of seismographs that measure the rumblings of Pele and her servants. This old-school pen and ink technology really grabbed everyones attention who came to the large window which protected the seismographs as if they were babies in a nursing ward! Some of the needles were jumping about crazily and we wondered as we turned to look at the gassing steaming vents from the volcano floor behind us if something was about to blow! DAMI
